Shoot Car Shoot
When I started out in photography around 2003 slowly but surely all commercial photography in India shifted from analog to digital. Unlike today where a lot of digital post production dominates commercial photography back then photographers tried to capture as much as possible in camera while on location - just like they used to with analog cameras. Large budget shoots on location were the norm in automobile photography. For example motion rigs were attached to cars to simulate high speeds, real confetti was used to signify celebration (as opposed to adding it in post) and complicated large lighting setups were used. I worked as a digital technician at that time with one of India's leading automotive photographers - CP Satyajit. I made these 'behind the scene' images during that period (2003-2006). In a few years as digital camera technology improved, as the ability of computer programs to manipulate/transform images increased exponentially and as the budgets for location shoots shrunk the reliance on post production became the norm. The older emphasis on getting it perfect on location waned in importance.
